Our Big Day Out course is a mixture of miles and skills for fitter riders. These days are more about the rides than just the skills, but when we get to an interesting bit of trail there’s always time to stop and play!
Starting from either the visitors centre in Grizedale Forest, or the Wheelbase bike shop in Staveley we head out on some of The Lake District’s finest natural trails.
We clock up more miles than you’d normally get on a skills course, and look at the different skills needed for the various types of trail and terrain on the route. We stop and session certain sections, taking on some of the features individually before linking it all together to build up everyone’s confidence on the rougher steeper stuff.
Options include taking in the likes of the Garburn Pass, Nan Bield pass, or the Walna Scar Road as part of a big circular route. These days will put some serious mountain into your mountain biking!
